Hollywood Insider - What Happened After ‘Twilight’: Where the Saga’s Stars Are Today

Hollywood Insider – What Happened After ‘Twilight’: Where the Saga’s Stars Are Today

With Robert Pattinson leading Bong Joon Ho’sMickey 17’ and Kristen Stewart making her feature directorial debut with ‘The Chronology of Water’, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2025, the ‘Twilight’ cast have evolved far beyond the roles that made them famous.

When ‘Twilight’ got its reboot on Netflix this spring, it brought us all back to the city of Forks. For a generation raised on Team Edward vs. Team Jacob, this was more than a rewatch—it was a rediscovery.

But it’s been 13 years since the release of ‘Breaking Dawn – Part 2’ back in 2012. So what’s the cast up to now?

Robert Pattinson: From Peak ‘Team Edward’ to Auteur’s Muse

Once known only as Edward Cullen—everyone’s crush at the time—Robert Pattinson has completely rewritten the rules of what it means to survive (and thrive) after mega-franchise fame.

Post-‘Twilight’, Pattinson pivoted hard into indie films, working with directors like the Safdie Brothers (‘Good Time’) and Robert Eggers (‘The Lighthouse’) in performances that demanded critical reevaluation.

Then came ‘The Batman’ in 2022, where he redefined the cape-and-cowl archetype. Now, he’s leading ‘Mickey 17’, Bong Joon-ho’s ambitious sci-fi adaptation of Edward Ashton’s novel.

In it, Pattinson plays a disposable clone on a frozen colony planet—a role that’s physically demanding, philosophically strange, and tailor-made for his new cinematic identity.

It’s a freaky and interesting take on clones could be worth the watch.

And while it was Edward Cullen that launched him into worldwide fame, it was his role as Cedric Diggory in ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’ (2005)—filmed just a few years earlier—that first put his name on the map.

Fans would go wild if Pattinson reprised his role as Cedric Diggory in the new adaptation of the upcoming ‘Harry Potter‘ series.

Kristen Stewart: From Bella Swan to Leading Her Own Narrative

Kristen Stewart’s directorial debut, ‘Sacramento’—a quiet dramedy starring Michael Cera and Maya Erskine—premiered at Tribeca. The film serves as a reminder for us to reflect on what truly matters and invites us to consider what more might be out there waiting for us.

Stewart brings her grungy, down-to-earth, minimalist style to the screen—similar to the grounded, introspective energy she brought to her role as Bella.

Films like ‘Personal Shopper’, ‘Seberg’, and ‘Spencer’ earned her critical acclaim and a César award.

She earned a 2022 Oscar nod for her captivating performance as Princess Diana in ‘Spencer’.

But long before that, during the 2000s while she was busy filming all five ‘Twilight’ movies, she also took on smaller, more personal roles in movies like ‘The Runaways’ and  ‘Adventureland’ with Jesse Eisenberg, Ryan Reynolds, and Kristen Wiig—where she embodied rock icon Joan Jett.

Before the saga wrapped with ‘Breaking Dawn – Part 2’ in 2012, Stewart took on the role of Snow White in ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’, reimagining the classic heroine as a battle-ready fighter. (Not to be confused with Disney’s 2025 live-action ‘Snow White’, which takes a very different approach.)

Even with the on-again, off-again relationship with ‘Twilight’ co-star Robert Pattinson—Stewart still holds Pattinson in high regard. “We were together for years, that was my first love,” she told Howard Stern in 2019.

Now, Stewart is newly married to Dylan Meyer, marking a new chapter in her personal life—though let’s be honest, part of us will always have a soft spot for her and Pattinson.

Taylor Lautner: From Sharkboy to Jacob—and the Taylor Trifecta

Of all the core ‘Twilight’ cast, Taylor Lautner had one of the fastest rises—and one of the quietest exits.

After his breakout as Jacob Black, he headlined a few studio films like ‘Abduction’ and ‘Tracers’, but eventually stepped away from the spotlight.

Long before ‘Twilight’, Lautner’s first major role was in ‘The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl’, followed by ‘Cheaper by the Dozen 2’. But it was ‘Twilight’ that catapulted him to full-blown teen heartthrob status.

In 2022, he married Taylor Dome—making him part of what fans now lovingly call the “Taylor Trifecta,” thanks to his past with Taylor Swift (and yes, ‘Back to December’ still hits different).

These days, Lautner co-hosts ‘The Squeeze’, a mental health podcast with his wife that’s built a loyal following. Open about anxiety, masculinity, and life after fame, he’s found a new purpose beyond Hollywood.

He may not be chasing blockbuster roles anymore, but don’t count him out—he still shows up doing backflips at Taylor Swift concerts and in viral ‘Twilight’ TikToks, keeping Team Jacob very much in the chat.

Anna Kendrick & Ashley Greene

Anna Kendrick—Jessica Stanley to ‘Twilight’ fans—has quietly become one of Hollywood’s most versatile multi-hyphenates.

Funny enough, Anna Kendrick has admitted she completely forgot she was even in ‘Twilight’—a confession she shared on Alexandra Cooper’s ‘Call Her Daddy’ podcast.

After starring in ‘Pitch Perfect’, ‘Into the Woods’, and ‘The Accountant’, Kendrick made her directorial debut with ‘Woman of the Hour’ on Netflix.

Through ‘Woman of the Hour’, Kendrick spotlighted the complexities of how women are portrayed and too often dismissed.

Based on a true story, the film dives into a wave of murders that took place in the ’70s, as a young woman aspiring to make it big in Hollywood crosses paths with a serial killer during an episode of a dating show she only did to make money and connections.

Kendrick recently reprised her role as Stephanie Smothers in ‘Another Simple Favor,’ starring alongside Blake Lively.

Her role in ‘Twilight’ will always be iconic.

Ashley Greene, who played fan favorite Alice Cullen, has embraced her roots, co-hosting ‘The Twilight Effect’ podcast, which started in 2022.

Seth Green, Ashley Greene, and Matt Walsh star in ‘Grace Period’, a romantic comedy directed by Peter Facinelli and presented at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.

Nikki Reed & Kellan Lutz

Nikki Reed has long stepped out of the Hollywood wheel. Passionate about sustainability and clean living, she co-founded BaYou with Love, a lifestyle and jewelry brand known for its recycled gold collaborations with Dell.

She also directed a short documentary on regenerative agriculture in California that premiered at Sundance this year.

She’s married to longtime partner Ian Somerhalder, best known for ‘The Vampire Diaries’—because apparently, playing a vampire leads to a healthy and long marriage.

Kellan Lutz appeared in ‘Due Justice’ (2024). He’s a lead role in ‘Desert Dawn’, reuniting him with fellow ‘Twilight’ alum Cam Gigandet.

Jackson Rathbone

Jackson Rathbone (Jasper Hale) has taken the road less traveled. As both an actor and musician, he’s cultivated his own kind of following.

He’s appeared in recent titles like ‘WarHunt’ (2022) and ‘The Island’ (2023). But these days, he seems more focused on his music—writing, recording, and diving deeper into that creative lane, as seen on his Instagram account.

Beyond Forks: Why This Cast Still Matters

It’s been over 13 years since ‘Breaking Dawn – Part 2’ closed the chapter on ‘Twilight’. And yet here we are—revisiting the entire saga on Netflix like no time has passed.

Whether you’re watching for the first time or diving back in for nostalgia, the pull of Forks is still strong.

Sure, the films might not look like today’s sleek, digital blockbusters—but that’s part of the charm. They captured something real for their time, and fans continue to love them for exactly that.

What’s even more special is that the cast never really said goodbye—to each other, or to us.

From random reunions to subtle support, there’s still a sense of family between them.

And now, all these years later, every cast member has branched out—doing their own thing and taking risks.

Cast: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, and Billy Burke

Director: Catherine Hardwicke (‘Twilight’), Chris Weitz (‘New Moon’), David Slade (‘Eclipse’), Bill Condon (‘Breaking Dawn – Part 1 & Part 2’)

Writers: Melissa Rosenberg, based on the novels by Stephenie Meyer

An excerpt from the love letter: The Hollywood Insider’s CEO/editor-in-chief Pritan Ambroase affirms, We have the space and time for all your stories, no matter who/what/where you are. Media/Cinema/TV have a responsibility to better the world and The Hollywood Insider will continue to do so. Talent, diversity and authenticity matter in Cinema/TV, media and storytelling. In fact, I reckon that we should announce “talent-diversity-authenticity-storytelling-Cinema-Oscars-Academy-Awards” as synonyms of each other. We show respect to talent and stories regardless of their skin color, race, gender, sexuality, religion, nationality, etc., thus allowing authenticity into this system just by something as simple as accepting and showing respect to the human species’ factual diversity. We become greater just by respecting and appreciating talent in all its shapes, sizes, and forms. Award winners, which includes nominees, must be chosen on the greatness of their talent ALONE.

I am sure I am speaking for a multitude of Cinema lovers all over the world when I speak of the following sentiments that this medium of art has blessed me with. Cinema taught me about our world, at times in English and at times through the beautiful one-inch bar of subtitles. I learned from the stories in the global movies that we are all alike across all borders. Remember that one of the best symbols of many great civilizations and their prosperity has been the art they have left behind. This art can be in the form of paintings, sculptures, architecture, writings, inventions, etc. For our modern society, Cinema happens to be one of them. Cinema is more than just a form of entertainment, it is an integral part of society. I love the world uniting, be it for Cinema, TV, media, art, fashion, sport, etc. Please keep this going full speed.”
