Hollywood Insider – Netflix’s ‘Tires’ Season 2
Hilarious, Dramatic, and the Perfect Show for Easy Laughter
Created by Shane Gillis, Steven Gerben, and John McKeever, ‘Tires’ season 2 exemplifies what comedy is all about.
Featuring a cast of Saturday Night Live alumni and popular podcast comedians, ‘Tires’ season 2 launched with a strong Rotten Tomatoes critic score and an overall rating of 83%.
Gillis leads the show as the main draw, especially after gaining a devoted fan base following his 2023 Netflix comedy special, ‘Beautiful Dogs’.
Gillis and Gerben headline the ensemble in ‘Tires’ season 2, which impressively expands the core group introduced in the brief six-episode first season.

An Easy Binge
With episodes running about 28 minutes each, the series is incredibly binge-friendly, making it easy to finish in just a few days. Released on June 5, 2022, it’s perfectly timed for summer viewing.
‘Tires’ pairs its mockumentary-style visuals—clearly nodding to ‘The Office’—with a chaotic crew of ethically questionable characters in the vein of ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.’

Even Better Storytelling and Development
Season 2 of ‘Tires’ marks a noticeable shift, placing greater emphasis on storytelling and character depth.
While Season 1 leaned heavily on Shane’s role as a loudmouthed instigator—more caricature than character—this season gives him emotional nuance, making him feel far more human and easy to connect with.
The same goes for the ensemble: characters like Cal (Chris O’Connor) and Kilah (Kilah Fox) shed their one-note setups to emerge as more grounded and relatable figures.
What they nailed—where other series have often missed—is striking that balance between character development and keeping each character’s distinct vibe intact.
Gerben’s take on Will remains exaggerated and delightfully absurd, anchoring his character with a reliably entertaining, over-the-top charm.
This season, Will steps outside his usual world at the Valley Forge auto shop by developing an unexpected friendship with Ryan (Ryan Farrell), who faces his own struggles working at the tire factory True Thread.
Then there’s Dave, played brilliantly by the one-of-a-kind Stavros Halkias, evolving from a workplace troublemaker into a near-antagonist who somehow manages to be both likable and infuriating.

Spot-On Casting Choices
Thomas Haden Church (‘Spider-Man 3’) brought a fresh spark to the cast as Shane’s affluent yet explosive dad, Phil.
He’s an unpredictable force; you never quite know what to expect from him.
Church nailed the comedy in this role, so if there’s a Season 3, he’s gotta be back.
Honestly, they really knocked it out of the park with this one.

Guest Stars and Recurring Characters
Season 2 brought out the big names. While the first season mostly featured Shane Gillis and fellow comedian Andrew Schulz as its most notable faces, the second took things up a notch with a lineup of standout guest appearances.
Two-time Emmy nominee Jon Lovitz kicks off the season with a memorable appearance as an irate customer in the premiere episode.
Comedy legend Vince Vaughn (‘Wedding Crashers’) steals the show in Episode 6, ‘The Tri-State Mid Market Tire Expo,’ with his standout performance as Mike, a slick and confident businessman.
In the lead-up to the finale, Texas comedian Ron White makes a memorable appearance, stealing the spotlight in the second-to-last episode.
Netflix hasn’t confirmed a third season for the hilarious and witty show just yet, but given the show’s strong reception and the creators’ fast turnaround between seasons, there’s a good chance it could return—possibly as soon as 2026.
And after the casting choices from Gillis, Gerben, and McKeever, there’s no doubt even more big shits will be there.
And if Gillis, Gerben, and McKeever’s casting choices so far are any indication, even bigger names are bound to roll in.

Tasteful Comedy for a Niche Audience
Like many comedies, ‘Tires’ appeals mainly to a niche audience that can enjoy its humor without getting offended.
But the real issue lies more with the writing and delivery pushing boundaries than with audiences being “too sensitive.”
There’s a difference between bold comedy and simply crossing the line into unfiltered, inappropriate territory (which, yes, some shows and comedians can get away with depending on their target audience).
Many cast members hail from ‘Saturday Night Live’, known for its sharp, no-holds-barred humor, which influences the ‘Tires’’ tone.
But this isn’t ‘SNL’, so don’t expect any walkouts over someone getting offended—something that’s happened more than once in ‘SNL’s’ history.
Still, ‘Tires’ has established its own voice with unapologetically raunchy comedy that’s both its signature and a lightning rod for criticism.
Season 2 doubles down on this edgy, sometimes crude style—definitely not for everyone.
Yet despite the rawness, the show maintains a certain level of class and knows exactly where the line should be drawn.
When done well, this balance gives the series an authentic and real voice.
The season continues to make characters the punchline but does so with more nuance and purpose, elevating the humor beyond mere shock value.

Not Trying to Be Anything Else — ‘Tires’ Just Wants to Make You Laugh
‘Tires’ isn’t aiming to revolutionize comedy or redefine the genre. Its goal is simple: to make viewers laugh. In that way, it shares common ground with shows like ‘The Office’ and ‘Parks and Recreation.’
This is where these shows overlap—they’re not necessarily groundbreaking, but they don’t give audiences much to complain about either. Ultimately, whether you enjoy them comes down to personal taste.
What the Cast of ‘Tires’ Is Currently Working On
Shane Gillis has been added to the cast of Amazon MGM’s ‘Madden’, where Nicolas Cage will star as John Madden (NFL Coach). Production is currently underway.
Vince Vaughn officially announced that ‘Bad Monkey’ has been renewed for a second season on Apple TV+. Production is expected to begin this fall.

An excerpt from the love letter: The Hollywood Insider’s CEO/editor-in-chief Pritan Ambroase affirms, “We have the space and time for all your stories, no matter who/what/where you are. Media/Cinema/TV have a responsibility to better the world and The Hollywood Insider will continue to do so. Talent, diversity and authenticity matter in Cinema/TV, media and storytelling. In fact, I reckon that we should announce “talent-diversity-authenticity-storytelling-Cinema-Oscars-Academy-Awards” as synonyms of each other. We show respect to talent and stories regardless of their skin color, race, gender, sexuality, religion, nationality, etc., thus allowing authenticity into this system just by something as simple as accepting and showing respect to the human species’ factual diversity. We become greater just by respecting and appreciating talent in all its shapes, sizes, and forms. Award winners, which includes nominees, must be chosen on the greatness of their talent ALONE.
I am sure I am speaking for a multitude of Cinema lovers all over the world when I speak of the following sentiments that this medium of art has blessed me with. Cinema taught me about our world, at times in English and at times through the beautiful one-inch bar of subtitles. I learned from the stories in the global movies that we are all alike across all borders. Remember that one of the best symbols of many great civilizations and their prosperity has been the art they have left behind. This art can be in the form of paintings, sculptures, architecture, writings, inventions, etc. For our modern society, Cinema happens to be one of them. Cinema is more than just a form of entertainment, it is an integral part of society. I love the world uniting, be it for Cinema, TV, media, art, fashion, sport, etc. Please keep this going full speed.”
