‘Friends The Official Cookbook’ – Could We BE More Excited?
Your favorite group of friends from NYC have delivered once again! Remember all of those Thanksgiving feasts from Monica, Phoebe’s grandmother’s prized chocolate chip cookies, and more? Well lucky for you a Friends cookbook is hitting shelves later this year and you can reminisce on all the gang’s best moments while simultaneously cooking their meals. What could be better? ‘Friends The Official Cookbook’ is available for pre-order now on Amazon, and will be officially out on September 22nd of this year, marking the 26th anniversary of the hit sitcom everyone knows and loves. There will be over 100 recipes that you can wow your friends and family with, from main courses to drink to a ‘Just for Joey’ fries board that will make your dinner guests say “How you doin?” Time to strap on your aprons and channel your inner Monica Geller!
Author of the upcoming cookbook back by Warner Brothers, is chef Amanda Yee, a California Native who has trained under award-winning chef Bryant Terry. The book covers recipes from all ten seasons of the beloved sitcom, and there are definitely some standouts. Rachel’s not-so-tasty English Trifle, Ross’s coveted Moist Maker sandwich, and Joey’s treasured Meatball Sub have all made it into the book. You may have thought that Monica was the only chef in the show, but the book covers pretty much every moment an iconic food staple is mentioned. No matter who your favorite Friends member is/was, they are sure to have their fair share of recipes within the book. The best part? Each recipe is paired with a specific episode of the show! So while you whip up these recipes, you can enjoy some inspiration and entertainment from the precise moment that the recipe was born. I know! It really can’t get better than that.
If you aren’t quite Monica Geller savvy in the kitchen, no worries. The book is made for all levels of chefs and is built for the experience more than anything. It’s perfect for reminiscing on all your favorite moments from the show, while simultaneously showing off your mad cooking skills. The news of the cookbook comes after the unfortunate delay of the Friends reunion that was set to premiere on May 27th on HBO Max, due to the ongoing pandemic. Although filming was pushed back, fans are hopeful that as stay-at-home orders begin to get lifted, that the reunion will arrive later this summer. Digital Spy reported that WarnerMedia chairman Bob Greenblatt said, “At the moment, we’re trying to look to the future and get this thing done in a more conventional way, and I think it’s worth waiting for.” Hopefully, it arrives just in time to cook up some recipes from the book and sit down to watch the iconic friend group of six reunite and reminisce.
Before chef Yee’s book came along, there was an unofficial cookbook for fans. In an attempt to revisit your favorite recipes from the 90s, iconic Friends recipes have been circulating the internet for quite some time. If you have seen every episode (possibly multiple times) then you know the certain recipes that are worth getting excited for. For starters, nobody can quite forget the Thanksgiving episodes each season. They were always a little bit different, ranging from Monica displaying a fantastical long thought-out feast, or Rachel’s English Trifle that more or less resembled something that her infant daughter Emma could’ve made. Gross or not, the trifle is a memorable part of the series and a potentially a good prank to pull at your next Friendsgiving. After so many years on-air and streaming devices, it can be hard to remember all the foods or snacks that are mentioned. Now you can get your hands on a book that will tell you every recipe and where to find it in the show. I don’t know about you, but that sounds like a pretty ideal night in.
Ross’s Moist Maker sandwich from his Thanksgiving leftovers will be highly anticipated, seeing as how Ross got suspended from his job over it. Hopefully re-creating the recipe does not cause any suspensions for fans, but rather an understanding over what makes the Moist Maker so dang good. There’s no doubt that the cookbook will be filled with wonderful recipes and trips down memory lane. From appetizers to full dinners, to simple drinks, the book is sure to garner popularity among the sitcom’s fans quite quickly. Nothing is quite as comforting than reminiscing with food. Mark your calendars and clear your kitchens for September.
